mona lisaA painting of Mona Lisa believed to be an earlier version, believed to have been created in 1505, of the infamous lady depicts Mona Lisa as younger than the well-known painting that has become legendary. In this painting she appears to be a young woman in her 20s not so much her 30s.

Mona Lisa is the work of Italian artist Leonardo da Vinci. She is one of the most recognizable figures not only in the art world but in the world period. The Mona Lisa resides in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France (or the Musée du Louvre, en francais). Mona Lisa is thought to be the wife of Francesco del Giocondo. The painting is surprisingly small in person, only 30×21 inches. Mona Lisa has been reinvented by artists and others in a multitude of ways. In our book, Winnie McGoo’s Museum Adventure, Winnie eats pizza with Mona Lisa.

Leonardo da Vinci painted on wood and this younger Mona Lisa was painted on canvas, making some suspicious over the claim that it’s an earlier da Vinci.
